Tricks for using 'found' items in vivariums

I'm in the process of assembling my first big vivarium. I have a few moss covered logs and rocks from my family farm that I'd very much like to include in my vivarium if there is any possible way to do so safely. (It's a sentimental thing)

I know there is the risk of various nasties, fungi, mold, parasites, etc, from natural, untreated items. Are there any workarounds for that issue that wouldn't kill the moss?

They were collected in the dead of winter, and chiseled out of a fair snow and ice pack, so the insect load is likely miniscule. I have the capability to flood them with CO2, for days if I were so inclined, so I figured that would be one option for the bugs, but that doesn't eliminate the microbial critters.

Any advice is much appreciated!
