Planting new plants in an established viv

I am still new to all that comes with taking care of my dart frogs and my viv itself, but I feel like I am getting the hang of it. The question I actually just was wondering about is I may want to add a plant or two to my viv that I recently set up. So would I just be able to add the new plants by simply digging in the substrate as long as it doesn't disturb the other plants or is there any other steps I need to do. Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question just want to cover all my bases so I don't make a mistake I will regret.
