Vent breeding question

My friend, who is not on the board, acquired a pair of vents last August. He has one of those fake exo terra broms, which his frogs lay clutch upon clutch in, the eggs get to the hatching stage and then disappear. I told him to check that they aren't being transported into the leaf litter (if there are any pools in the leaves), and make sure there is absolutely no other place (like under the cup in the fake brom, or leaf axial) that's holding water where they could be. He says there is NO place for them to go. He has finally added some small condiment Tupperware w/water, but still no tads. Would the parents eat them? I searched on here and read about the possibility of snails, which I'll tell him to look for, but is there any other alternatives? He is new to keeping and breeding, and I only have breeding experience w/tincs so I'm at a loss.

Thanks
